Info Box

Michael Madison was born on October 15, 1977. He’s a serial killer from East Cleveland, Ohio who is suspected of killing three women at the very least. In 2016 Michael Madison was sentenced to death after being convicted on three counts of aggravated murder with death penalty specifications; one count of kidnapping and two counts of rape.

Arrest

On July 19, 2013, police responded to a complaint about a foul odor. When they arrived to investigate the smell, they uncovered three badly decomposed corpses in a garage rented by Michael Madison. Inside they discovered the decomposing body of 18-year old Shirellda Helen Terry, who disappeared on July 10, 2013. The following day, the bodies of 28-year old Shetisha Sheeley and 38-year old Angela Deskins, who was reported missing in June 2013 was found all wrapped in plastic bags. She was reported missing in September 2012. After obtaining a warrant, police entered Madison’s apartment and found items belonging to 17-year-old Ciera Miller after images and her clothes were matched with some of those found in the apartment and near bodies. They discovered evidence of decomposition throughout his entire apartment. After a brief standoff with police at his mother’s house, Madison was taken into custody without incident when he exited the home.

Trial and conviction

On July 22, 2013, Michael Madison, who had been arrested for the murders of three women was charged with aggravated murder. His bail was set at $6 Million and he waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

On October 31, 2013, Michael Madison’s attorney entered a not guilty plea to an updated indictment which now included aggravated murder charges; prosecutors had announced that they were seeking the death penalty against him, a move his attorney had tried to prevent as well as expected. The indictment included two counts of aggravated murder for each victim, three counts of kidnapping, three counts of gross abuse of a corpse, one count of rape, and one count of weapons possession by an ex-convict. He had originally been registered as a sex offender in 2002.

On May 5th 2016, after a little less than one day of deliberation, the jury found Madison guilty of all 13 counts. At the court, Madison said that he intended to file an appeal to the Ohio Supreme Court. On the 20th of May, the jury had recommended a death sentence for Madison. During sentencing, Madison was seen smiling at those who had been affected by his actions. Van Terry (father of the victim, Shirellda Terry), became enraged which caused him to lunge at Madison but security managed to hold him back. Because of this incident, no further charges were brought against him.

The Ohio Supreme Court issued a decision on July 21, 2020, upholding the death sentence for Michael Madison for the murder of three women.

The killing of Michael Madison’s Mother

Three years after his conviction for the alleged killings of three women, the mother of accused murderer Michael Madison (Diane Madison) was reportedly stabbed to death, and at least three more people were injured in the attack.  Her grandson, 18-year old Jalen Plummer was eventually charged with the murder after pleading guilty and three counts of attempted murder. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.
